Elaine Ruth Griffith

Elaine Griffith, 83, a Tonkawa resident, passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2012. Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater and will be held on Friday, June 15, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Riverview Cemetery southwest of Tonkawa, with Pastor Lynn Skyler presiding.
Elaine was born to Roosevelt and Ruth Mayfield on December 6, 1928. She grew up on the old homestead in the Riverview community and attended school at Cottage Hill Rural School and graduated from Tonkawa High School. She married William Bill Griffith on September 11, 1946 at the Riverview Church. Elaine was a homemaker, assisted her husband with the farm, and helped her mother while raising nine children. Her hobbies were flowers, bird watching, and going on scenic drives. Fond memories of Elaine are her homemade relish, breads, and luscious cinnamon rolls. Elaine is survived by her children, Wayne Griffith and wife Kathy, of Tonkawa; Mary Waye and husband Dickie, of Emory, TX; Joan Miller, of Ponca City; Janice Eberle and husband Arlis, of Ponca City, Paula Griffith, of Tonkawa; Sandy Frederick, of Tonkawa; Jessie Griffith, of Tonkawa; and Karen Griffith, of Tonkawa; two siblings: Pauline Wolf, of Independence, KS, and James Mayfield, of Johnson City, TX; fourteen grandchildren, and twenty two great grandchildren, as well as a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband, Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, and a daughter, Betty Griffith, and a son in law, Mike Miller.
