Ellis E . Allinson

March 11, 1934 — January 23, 2022

Ellis (“DOC”) Earl Allinson was born to Lois Funk Gaskill March 11,1934 in Oklahoma City, OK. He was adopted as an infant by Cecil W. and Velma (King) Allinson of Stillwater, OK where he resided the rest of his life. He was raised on a farm west of town on McElroy. Ellis attended Fair Plains School 1st-8th grade and graduated from Stillwater High School in May of 1952. He attended OSU (at the time A&M) College studying Agriculture for a year before he went on to farm with his parents.

Ellis married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Alene B. Friedemann, August 22, 1954. They soon had two daughters, Malinda and Deborah. Ellis and Alene farmed west of Stillwater for several years before Ellis joined Stillwater Fire Department October 31, 1957. Ellis served as a FireFighter for 22 years. During “Doc’s” service he served for the last 10 years as a Paramedic. Being the first Paramedic in Payne County and the 10th in the state of Oklahoma. “Doc” retired from service November 1st, 1979. However, never truly leaving his brotherhood, he almost always donned a Stillwater Fire Dept baseball cap, visited stations weekly, brought coffee at Christmas, and lived his Fireman's legend in heart everyday throughout his very curated and lively storytelling. Ellis and Alene never missed an annual Retired FireFighter’s celebration. He worked in the early 60’s part-time for Mistletoe Express and later as a substitute mail carrier for several years. After retirement he worked for OG&E as a medic and safety officer as well as for the Rico Car Wash Business.

Ellis was active in the FFA with Stillwater High School and received the American Farmer Degree Award in1955, presented by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in Kansas City. Ellis was an active member and leader in the United States Junior Chamber, known as the Jaycees - A leadership training and civic organization, throughout the 1970’s. Teaching younger generations leadership, dedication and persistence was a great passion for Ellis. Ellis and Alene were very active in the Payne County and Stillwater community. Members of Retired FireFighters Group of Payne County, the Sim-R-On Sams camping group, Salem Lutheran Church and Ellis, First Christian Church in youth. Ellis loved to hunt, fish, never met a stranger and loved his family. He is predeceased by his parents and his loving wife Alene. He is survived by his two daughters, Malinda Allinson-Geary of Colorado and Deborah Wilson residing in Stillwater. Three grand-daughters, Carrie Lynch and husband Jerome of California, Tanya Timmons, and Lindsey Lupow and husband Justin both of Colorado.
