Elsie May Bailey, 86, a beloved member of her family and community, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2025, in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Born on August 17, 1938, in Wagoner County, Oklahoma, May attended school at Broken Arrow, and lived in many places, including Colorado, Bixby, Coweta, Tulsa, Cushing, Bartlesville, and Stillwater.
As a single mother, May supported her family with many jobs throughout her life as an assembler, hostess, waitress, bartender, bookbinder, & bar owner of “May’s No Name Lounge”, before retiring as a silk finisher, while also nurturing her family with unwavering love and devotion. Throughout her life, May enjoyed watching Movies & Televisions shows & sharing her passions for jigsaw puzzles and board & computer games, particularly her favorites—Words with Friend, Wordle and Scrabble, which she embraced with joy and enthusiasm. Her engaging spirit and warmth drew others to her, creating lasting memories that will be cherished by her loved ones.
May was the proud mother of Robert A. Perry, Leona Chancellor, Marvin Perry, Anthony Perry, Stacie Catlett, Donny Bailey, Raylene Rainer, and April Bailey. She was also a loving grandmother to Robert R. Perry, Lindsay Perry, Robin Chancellor, Perry Chancellor, Vincent Chancellor, Dshawn Polk, Cody Taylor, Sierra Smith, Rayven Taylor, Kelsie Lazar, Donovan Bailey, Conner Bailey, Adrian Bailey, Caleb McCabe, Dakota Stoy, Ashley Stoy, Deontre Bailey, and Gage Bailey. Furthermore, she will be remembered by her 18 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews, who were all fortunate to know her kindness and support.
Her family was always her proudest accomplishment, and they will carry forward her legacy of love and togetherness.
May is preceded in death by her parents, Al Bertie Catlett and Lennie Mae Mahan Catlett, her brothers Arval Lee Catlett and Wesley John Catlett, her sisters Jeanette Dorothy Dodson and Burnett Ilene Thornbrugh, along with her son Robert A. Perry, her 1st husband Marvin Robert (Bob) Perry, great-granddaughter Natasha Taylor and her ex-husband Don Bailey.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 29, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Dighton Marler Funeral Home located at 5106 N Washington St, Stillwater, Oklahoma, 74075. The family welcomes friends and loved ones to come together to honor and celebrate the life of Elsie May Bailey, whose spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
