Elsie L. Bickell, age 78 of Perkins went to her new home in Heaven early Tuesday morning, August 11, 2009 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Her funeral services have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater and will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2009 in the Immanuel Baptist Church at Perkins with the Reverend Jimmy Bickell and Reverend Robin Foster officiating. Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation for Mrs. Bickell will be held at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home Thursday from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Bickell was born on July 9, 1931 in Henderson County, Kentucky the daughter of Reverend J. E. and Blonnie Mae (Dixon) Samples. She grew up and graduated from High School in Kentucky. On January 8, 1952 she was united in marriage to Jim Bickell in Union Hill, Kentucky. She moved to Perkins in 1976 from Lindsey, Okla. She worked as a teller in Banks in Kentucky and Stillwater and also worked at the City Hall in Perkins. She was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Perkins where she served as Church Pianist. She enjoyed playing the piano, bowling, fishing, quilting and spending time with her family. Mrs. Bickell is survived by her husband Jim of the home in Perkins; one son, Reverend Jimmy Bickell and wife JoAnn of Belle, Missouri; two daughters, Debra Bradley and husband Kent of Perkins and Rita Cavanaugh and husband Gale of Perkins; one sister, Melba Pritchett of Clay, Kentucky; a brother-in-law, Eddie Byrd of Moore; eleven grandchildren, Michael Thurman, Josh Tivis, Chris Tivis, Bradley Bickell, Craig Bickell, Kristi Bickell, Jennifer Vicinus, Kimberly Light, Lezlee Cavanaugh, Christi Weatherley and Melanie Cavanaugh; seven great grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Doris Elaine Byrd. Those who wish may make memorials to the Immanuel Baptist Church Building Fund in her memory.
