Ethel Mae Adkison passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at the Porto Cali Hospice House in Tulsa, Oklahoma surrounded by her family. She was 90. Services have been entrusted to the care of Dighton-Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Ethel was born February 4, 1929 in Glencoe, Oklahoma to Walker F. (Fred) Clark and Mary Elizabeth (Ittner) Clark. She attended Glencoe Public Schools and graduated in 1948. After graduation, she became a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked in Kansas, Oklahoma, and Colorado.
She married the love of her life, Eugene Adkison on February 25, 1952 in Yale, Oklahoma. They had been married 50 years when Gene passed away in 2002. They were blessed with four children, David Kenneth, Fred Leroy, Betty Jean, and Mary Ruth.
After Ethel and Gene were married, they lived in Stillwater where Gene was employed, and later moved to Canon City, Colorado. In the mid nineties they moved back to Glencoe where they made their home for the remainder of their lives. She was a longtime member of the Glencoe Church of Christ. Ethel will be remembered for her laughter and witty spirit.
Ethel was preceded in death by her husband Gene; one daughter, Mary Ruth; brothers, Leonard Clark and Marion Clark; and one sister, Mary Sawyer. Those left behind to cherish her memories include her two sons, Kenneth Adkison of Stillwater, Oklahoma and Fred Adison (Patty) of Canon, City, Colorado; one daughter, Betty Jean Padilla (Jack) of Pueblo, Colorado; eight grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren; and one brother, Fred Clark, Jr. and wife Joan of Glencoe, Oklahoma.
Visitation will be 1PM to 6PM Sunday, September 22, 2019 and 9AM to 8PM Monday, September 23, 2019 both at Dighton-Marler Funeral Home in Stillwater. A Celebration of Ethel’s life will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at 11AM at the Church of Christ in Glencoe, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at the Union Cemetery in Glencoe.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Porto Cali Hospice House in c/o Dighton-Marler Funeral Home, 5106 N. Washington, Stillwater, Ok., 74075.
