Etta Jane Kienholz

Etta Jane Kienholz, 88, of Perry passed from this life on June 5, 2013 with her loving family by her side. Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home and a celebration of Etta"s life will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at the Perry Church of Christ. Interment will follow at Grace Hill Cemetery in Perry. Public visitation will be held from 12pm to 8pm on Friday, June 7 and the family will greet friends at the funeral home from 6pm to 8pm. Etta Jane Newsom was born on May 27, 1925 in Drumright, OK to James Robert and Maud Alta (Wiggens) Newsom. She grew up and attended schools in the Hayward area, graduating from Hayward High School. In 1949 Etta Jane married the love of her life, John Kienholz in a ceremony in Lucien, OK. Following their marriage, John and Etta moved to a farm west of Marland, OK where they raised their three sons. In the late 80"s, John retired and he and Etta Jane moved to Perry, OK. While her sons were in school, Etta Jane was a member of the FFA Mothers Club. She was also a member of the Perry Church of Christ for more than 25 years. In her younger years Etta enjoyed cooking, attending livestock auctions with John, and volunteering at the Perry Memorial Hospital auxiliary. She loved hosting card parties and playing UNO, Pitch, and Skipbo with her family. In her later years, Etta was a regular at Wheatheart Nutrition Project in Perry. She enjoyed the daily meals and the wonderful friends she made there. Etta Jane loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She rarely missed an opportunity to attend one of their sporting events and she relished the chance to spend time with them. Etta Jane was a dedicated wife, a loving mother, a proud grandmother, and a loyal friend. She touched many lives during her remarkable 88 years of life and she will truly be missed by all who knew her. Etta is survived by her 3 sons: David of Marland, Steve and his wife Denise of Red Rock, Larry and his wife Susan of Tonkawa; 4 grandchildren: Jason and his wife, Davi of Red Rock, Courtney Gurley and her husband, Steve of Sayre, Nathan of Tulsa, Noah and wife Kristina of Marland and Ryan of Lincoln, NE; and 3 great-grandchildren: Kadi and Brennon of Red Rock and Payten of Marland. She was preceded in death by her husband John in 2010, her parents: John Robert and Maud Alta Newsom, a sister: Eddie Mae Powers and a brother: Jack Newsom.
