Eva Mae Stich was born May 9, 1921 in Stillwater, OK to Lauren J. Blair and Maudie White-Blair. She was raised and attended schools in the Stillwater area where she became well known for her softball pitching skills. In 1942, Eva married the true love of her life, Layton Stich. Their marriage lasted for more than 65 wonderful years and Eva was just as in love with Layton the day he passed away as she was the day they got married.
While Layton was away at war, Eva secured a job with J.W. Woolworths Department Store in Stillwater, where she worked for the next 22 years. After leaving Woolworths, Eva spent several years with JC Penny before relocating to Cleveland, OK, where she worked for Kress Department Store. Eva and Layton returned to Stillwater after their retirement.
When she was not working, Eva loved spending time with her family, cooking, canning, playing with her dogs, serving others at the First United Methodist Church of Stillwater, or cleaning her meticulously tidy home. She was a very warm and loving family woman who took great pleasure in caring for others. Her sweet spirit and kindness will be missed by all who knew her.
Eva was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Layton Stich, an infant brother, and her sister: Helen Watson. She is survived by a brother: Tilford Blair and wife LaDell, of Stillwater. Five nephews: Tony Watson and wife Renee , of Bartlesville, Gary Blair, of Stillwater, Danny Watson and wife Deena, of Duncan, William Blair, of Stillwater, and Dudley Watson and wife Linda, of Lake Tenkiller.
