Everett was born March 7, 1932 in Ponca City, OK, to Harvey Hillery and Lena Helen (Melton) Fansler. He grew up in Ponca City and attended Ponca City High School. He and Linda Bragg were married June 16, 1951 in Ponca City, OK. They were blessed with 66 wonderful years. Everett started working in a grocery store as a teenager and soon became a store manager at Safeway in Tonkawa soon after he and Linda were married. They moved to Holbrook, AZ, for a short time before moving back to Perry, OK. He managed the M&W Food stores in Perry and Stillwater for several years. Then in 1979, they bought Skinner’s Candies and Gifts in the OSU Student Union that he and his wife owned and operated for 26 years until their retirement.

Some of Everett’s enjoyments were bowling with his friends, watching OSU football, and Thunder & OSU basketball. Caring for his yard was very important to him. His neighbors would often see him mowing his corner lot, sometimes two or three times a week whether it needed it or not. He also had an ample supply of good jokes to humor everyone with. He and Linda were longtime members of First Presbyterian Church in Stillwater where they faithfully attended and enjoyed the many friends they made over the years. His family was the light of his life. He loved spending time with them and making many fond memories. He was the best daddy and grandpa you could ever imagine. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Linda Lee Fansler; two daughters, Dorothy McLaughlin of Stillwater, OK, and Debra Bowman of Morrison, OK; four grandchildren, Melissa Morse and husband Philip of Glencoe, OK, Jessica Rice and husband Nic of Morrison, OK, Ross Bowman and wife Shannon of Glencoe, OK, and Wade Groom and wife Patricia of Rock Port, TX; seven great-grandchildren, Ashley Morse, Katy Morse, Remy Bowman, Alexander Rice, Roselynn Rice, Clayton Groom, and Payton Groom; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Everett was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Sue Groom in 1986; one granddaughter, Amy Beth Groom; one great-grandson, Kyton Bowman; five sisters, Louise, Betty, Bertha, Barbara, and Peggy; and three brothers, Jack, Raymond, and Roy.

Family requests donations be made to First Presbyterian Church building fund in c/o Dighton-Marler Funeral Home, 5106 N. Washington, OK, 74075.
