Florence Jean Leigh

Funeral services for Florence Jean Leigh, age 69, of Stillwater, OK are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at the Palmer Marler Carberry Funeral Home Chapel with Phyllis Brown officiating. Burial with be at Fairlawn Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Palmer Marler Carberry Funeral Home.
Florence was born on November 24, 1938 in Stillwater, OK to George and Mary (Much) Mick. She grew up and attended schools in Stillwater. She loved to go dancing and met her future husband, Monty, while dancing. They were married on June 16, 1979, the same night her daughter, Gayla married her husband, Rick. Her hobbies included working in the yard, going to the lake with her grandchildren, and traveling. She was very active in the Red Hat chapter she formed in Stillwater. Florence and Monty traveled to Nashville and danced together at the Wild Horse Saloon. She worked for the IBC Wonder Bread store in Stillwater for 21 years, retiring in February 2001. Florence went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, August 22, 2008 in Stillwater, where she was surrounded by her loving family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Dora Gossett and Viola Seela; and her first husband, Dale Sharpton.
She is survived by her husband, Monty Leigh of Stillwater; one daughter, Gayla Rogers and her husband, Rick of Stillwater; one grandson, Justin Rogers of Stillwater; one granddaughter, Jennifer Rogers of Stillwater; one great granddaughter, Trinity Twellman of Enid; one brother, Herman Mick of Poteau, OK; and one sister, Vera Evans and her husband Lester of California.
The family will greet visitors on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 from 6:00 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Active casket bearers will be Gib Buntin, John Rieman, Randy Seals, Frank Smith, Chuck Ritter, and Hallard Randell. Honorary casket bearers will be Calvin Aiken, Monte Hendricks, and Wayne Smith.
