Floyd Milford Craddock gained his wings Sunday morning, November 28, 2021 in Stillwater. He was 83. Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of Dighton-Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater.
Floyd was born January 16, 1938 in Stoutland, Missouri to Alfred Coleman and Alta Ethel (Toombs) Craddock. He grew up in the Stoutland area and graduated from Stoutland High School in 1955 and attended Cowley County Community College. He joined the Army in 1961 and faithfully served his country. After receiving a honorable discharge in 1963 he remained active in the Army reserves for the next four years. Floyd married Nancy (Burt) in June 1961 and later divorced. They had three children, Wanda Jeanne, Sheri May, and David Andrew. Floyd married Lael (Bradley) Metcalf on July 14, 1972 in Arkansas City, KS and gained two step-children, Joey and Cecil Metcalf.
He was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Perkins for 8 years. Floyd was very devout in his faith and enjoyed serving in the church. He was a member of the choir and music director for various churches. Floyd and Lael were very active in their churches and always enjoyed ministering during Vacation Bible school. Floyd was an avid quail hunter from an early age. He trained many German short hair dogs with his favorite being Duke. He loved playing basketball and baseball in high school and continued through his adult years on various AC teams. After retirement, Floyd ventured into his love of horses. Tennessee Walker was his favorite horse in which he owned a few. Keeping up with all the grands and great-grands was a full time job for both Floyd and Lael. Weekly calls were made to ensure all was well.
Floyd joins his parents, his brothers Alfred, Dale, Dean, sister Zelma, daughter Wanda Jeanne Johnson and great-grandson Andrew Quick in heaven.
Survivors include his church family, his wife of 49 years, Lael, children, Sheri (Darrell) Quick, David Craddock all of Arkansas City, KS, step-children Joey (Marsha) Metcalf of Mannford, OK, Cecil Metcalf and companion Jana Snow of Stillwater, OK. Grandchildren Ricky (Sarah) Johnson, Cordelia Amy Johnson, Abby (Lyle) Hammerschmidt, Chasta, Kassie and Jerushka Craddock, Joseph Metcalf, Jessica (Nick) Tuttobene, Joshua Metcalf, Ashley (Chad) Campbell and 17 great-grandchildren. Brother, Tom (Mary) Craddock of Castle Rock, CO and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday December 2, 2021 from 9AM to 8PM at Dighton-Marler Funeral Home in Stillwater. A Celebration of Floyd’s life will be 10AM Friday, December 3, 2021 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Perkins, with Pastor Robbie Bernhardt. Honorary casket bearers will be Floyds Sunday school class. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Stillwater. The funeral service will be livestreamed on the funeral home facebook for those who are unable to attend.
