Fred O. Hesser

Fred Oran Hesser , age 86, of Midwest City, passed away on March 4, 2014 in Midwest City at Manor Care Nursing Facility. Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home and a service celebrating Freds life will be held at 11:00am on Friday, March 7, 2014 at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel with interment following at Glencoe IOOF Cemetery in Glencoe, OK. Public visitation will be held from 8am to 8pm on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at the funeral home.

Fred was born on March 10th, 1927 in Glencoe, OK to Bill & Ethel Hesser . He grew up and attended school in Glencoe. Fred joined the US Navy in 1944 and was stationed in San Diego until deployed to Okinawa where he served on the crew of the USS San Saba and USS Hocking during WWII.

In 1945, Fred returned to Glencoe to work for Stillwater Dairy and GroendykeTransport out of Enid. He relocated to Stroud to work for Lloyd A Fry Roofing, where he worked his way up from a truck driver to Office Manager. Fred moved to Midwest City and spent many years working as a Superintendent for the Jay Tompkins & Co. He then went to work for Ben Cates of Midwest Wrecking as Field Superintendent and worked there until retiring in 1992. Fred remained great friends with Jay and Ben until death.

Fred went to work for Midwest Wrecking Co. in 1983 and was a loyal employee for almost twenty years. He was hired as a Field Superintendent and his knowledge, honesty and trustworthiness made him invaluable to the company. Some of the Major projects that he had a direct impact on were the demolition of the Alfred P Murrah Building, the Demolition of OPUBCO building on Broadway, the old train depot in Amarillo, and the partial demolition of Building 3001 at TAFB. There were many other projects, too numerous to mention, for which Fred was directly responsible. Fred took his responsibilities very seriously and was extremely conscientious to make sure that all of his projects were completed safely and efficiently. Freds retirement from Midwest left big shoes to fill.
Fred enjoyed collecting antiques, coin collecting with his son George, collecting old bottles with his son Fred and receiving his favorite magazine Coin World. He also loved football and baseball season and his two favorite teams to follow were OU football and St. Louis Cardinals baseball. After retirement, Fred became an incredible 15 yr companion to his small furry rescue dog, Snip.

He is preceded in Death by Son: Fred Eugene Hesserof Connorville. Parents Bill & Ethel Hesser of Glencoe. Brother: Max Oliver Hesser of Midwest City. Sisters: Ruby McKaughan & Husband Bob of Glencoe, Millie Gilchrest of Glencoe, Sister-In-Law Barbara Hesser of Glencoe.

He is survived by his son, George Hesser and wife Sharon of Yukon & Daughter-In-Law Sammye Hesser of Pearland, Tx. Two Grandsons Jamie & wife Tonya of Mustang. Joel of Wichita. Granddaughters Destiny Walker of Edmond, Aaron Parsons of Wichita. Three Great Grandsons, Jacob Hesser of Mustang, Levi Walker of Edmond and Trent Parsons of Wichita. Three Great Granddaughters Lauren and Kassidy Hesser of Mustang, Kristen Parsons of Wichita. One Great Great Grandaughter, Tatum Parsons of Wichita. Two Brothers: Hugh Doc Hesser of Glencoe, Billy Hesser and wife Nancy of Colcord, Two Sisters Ginny and husband Orin Snyder of Stillwater, Callie and husband C.J. Schreter of Midwest City, as well as numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, friends and longtime neighbors.

Thanks to Heartland Hospice, Manor Care and the many friends and family for their loving support during Freds long hard battle with cancer.
