Garland Courtney Clay was born on December 27th, 1916 to Gilbert and Blanche (Dial) Clay in Arkansas. He graduated high school in the state of Texas. Garland was united in marriage to Dorothy Clay on December 29th, 1950 in Houston, Texas.
Garland work as a pipe designer for Conoco for many years. He taught various Sunday School classes. He enjoyed gardening and reading. He loved animals and also thoroughly enjoyed telling stories. He loved to eat and enjoyed his retirement. He was a devoted family man who truly enjoyed spending time with his family.
Garland passed away on August 27th, 2006 at the Grace Living Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He was 89 years old. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Clay; 3 daughters, Linda Beals and Husband Richard of Cleveland, Ohio, Gina Kifer and Husband Randy of Ketchikan, Alaska, Tina Clay of Morrison, OK; 5 grandchildren, Deborah Beals, Alex, Randall and Cheyenne Sivertsen, Tonya Clay and 1 brother, Anthony Clay of Memphis, TN; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Garland was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Elizabeth Clay and Marie Dement and 1 brother, Kurt Clay.
There will be a memorial service held for Garland at Willow Wild Cemetery in Bonham, Texas at a later date. The family has entrusted Palmer Marler Carberry Funeral Home with the arrangements.
