Gary Wayne Lafollette

Gary Wayne LaFollette, age 75, of Stillwater, Oklahoma, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, in Edmond, Oklahoma.

Born July 17, 1946 in Stillwater, the first of five children to Garland and Mary Lee (Bilyeu) LaFollette.

He married his high school sweetheart, Sharla Ruth Prickett, October 2, 1965 at Union Home Church in Glencoe. They were married for 55 years and had three children. Sons Taz and Kris, and daughter Kerri. Taz and wife, Debbie (Knost), had Gary and Sharla’s only grandchild, Stephen.

He served as a Sergeant in the Army National Guard of Oklahoma (Reserves) from 1965 to 1971. In 1968 he began his 38-year career with OG&E in Drumright as a Meter Reader, working his way to Lineman, Local Area Representative, and retiring in 2006, as a Customer Service Coordinator in Oklahoma City.

Gary was a board member of The Fairlawn Preservation Society, and was on the planning committee for the National Wreaths of Honor Program. He participated in other community organizations such as The Benevolent Order of Elks #1859, was a certified umpire for The American Softball Association, and held many offices in the Jaycees. Gary was a loyal OSU athletics fan and OSU Baseball season ticket holder. He enjoyed road trips with his wife across the country to visit family, friends, and historical sites.

Preceded in death by his loving wife, Sharla Ruth, and his two sons, Taz and Kris LaFollette. Parents, Garland and Mary Lee LaFollette. Father-in-Law Charles Prickett and Sister-in-Law, Linda Cockrell.

Survived by daughter, Kerri LaFollette of Stillwater. Grandson, Stephen LaFollette of Edmond. Siblings Mike LaFollette (Franell) of Milton, Florida; Linda Taylor (Jerry) of Milton, Florida; Teresa Moser (Kent) of Perry; and Charlotte Bowling of Morrison. Mother-in-Law Peggy Prickett of Stillwater.

Services entrusted to Dighton-Marler Funeral Home, 5106 North Washington in Stillwater. Visitation Tuesday, October 5, 2021, 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Service will be on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, 10:30 a.m. Interment at Fairlawn Cemetery.
