Gene Willard Bowers

Graveside services for Gene Willard Bowers, age 81, of Amarillo, TX formerly of Perry, Oklahoma are scheduled for 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at the Grace Hill Pavilion with Rev. Martin Foster officiating. Mr. Bowers was born on May 24, 1926 to Harry and Mary (Palovik) Bowers in Perry, Oklahoma where he grew up and attended school in the Perry/Sumner area. He later joined the United States Navy in 1944 where he served in the Asiatic Pacific area on the U.S.S Bosque. Mr. Bowers married Ella May on August 17, 1946 at the First United Methodist Church in Perry and they have been happily married for over 61 years. His hobbies included the outdoors and horse racing. The highlights of his life were his family and friends. Mr. Bowers passed from this life to be with his Lord and Savior on January 31, 2008 at the Veterans Hospital in Amarillo, TX. He is survived by: Wife: Ella May of the home. 3 Sons: Bradley Gene Bowers and wife Nancy of Castle Rock, Colorado. Gregory Lee Bowers and wife Debbie of Greensboro, North Carolina. Jeffrey Len Bowers of Garland, Texas. 1 Daughter: Kimberly Jo Thompson and husband Trent of Amarillo, TX 2 Sisters: Thelma Hansen of Perry, OK Vivian Nida and husband John of Perry, OK. 9 Grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents: Harry and Mary Bowers.
