George Arthur Gladden age 64 of rural Cushing, Oklahoma went to his new home in Heaven Wednesday, January 13, 2010. His memorial services have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater and will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 18, 2010 at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Stillwater with Military Honors to be conducted by the United States Navy. Paul Burk and Bill Burk will be officiating. Mr. Gladden was born on May 18, 1945 in Tryon, Oklahoma the son of George Hulen and Jessie Lee (Simpson) Gladden. He was raised in the Tryon-Cushing-Ripley and Stillwater areas. He served in the United State Navy during the Vietnam Conflict and was united in marriage to Bonnie Burk on September 18, 1970 in Stillwater. Following their marriage they lived in rural Cushing, Oklahoma where he worked for Allied Refinery in Stroud until 1979 when he went to work for Sun Refinery in Tulsa until he retired in 2002. He also worked as a reserve officer for Creek County for 15 years. He also had worked for the Pawnee Tribal Police. He also worked as a armed security guard for Liberty Federal Savings Bank in Stillwater. He was a member of the Council Valley Baptist Church, a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and was an avid gun enthusiast. He enjoyed his children, grandchildren and his 34 acres and his three dogs, Rosie, Daisie and Koko. George is survived by his wife Bonnie of the home; one son, Jeffery Gladden and wife Shawna of Corryton, Tennessee; Daughters, Sharon Emmons of Okmulgee, Okla, Tara Gladden of Stillwater and Contessa Sorum and husband Brandon of Salina, Okla.; brothers, William Gladden and wife Theresa of Drumright, John Gladden of Depew, Okla.; Sisters, Shirley Wright and husband Olin of Cushing and Sue Green of Cushing; mother Jessie Gladden of Depew; mother and father-in-law, Elnora and Bobby Burk of Stillwater; grandchildren, Travis Fitzgerald, Amanda Roberts, Brandon Sorum, Jr., Gage Weaver, Garrison Gladden; great grandchild Xzavier Roberts, numerous other relatives and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his father.
