Gerald was born October 28, 1941 in Ness, KS, to Edward and Lucille (Rogers) Horner. At a very young age his family bought a farm in Glencoe where Gerald grew up and attended school. He was a 1960 graduate of Glencoe High School. He and Hazel Treat were married on July 20, 1968 in Pawnee, OK. They just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year.
Gerald had several jobs during his working career. Over the years he took care of the family farm. He worked a short time at Montgomery Ward in Cushing and then joined National Standard in Stillwater where he retired after 20 years of service. He and Hazel owned several rental properties that they took care of for many years until they fully retired. You could frequently find them at a cabin in Cassville, Missouri spending time with family at their annual vacations.
Gerald also enjoyed collecting books, coins, and going to breakfast with the family every other Sunday morning in Cushing. His family was very dear to him. He always loved spending time with his grandchildren. His sudden passing has left a void that will be filled by his love and the many memories made over the years.
Survivors include his wife Hazel of the home; daughter, Kim Gottfried and husband Lloyd of Stillwater, OK; son, Gerry Horner of Catoosa, OK; three grandchildren, Morgan Gottfried and wife Piper of Tulsa, OK, Craig Anderson and wife Kristen of Perkins, OK, and Darian Cleveland and husband George of Bartlesville, OK; and one great-granddaughter, Mila Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Tony and David Horner.
