Gillian Thomson Sherwood (nee Taylor) of Stillwater, Oklahoma died peacefully on 24th January 2011 at the age of 69. Beloved wife of Peter M.A. Sherwood. Dearly loved by her two surviving sisters Carol and Fiona. A funeral service will be held in St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Stillwater on 28th January at 11:00 a.m., and at Marchmont St. Giles Parish Church, Edinburgh, United Kingdom on 4th February at 11:30 a.m. Gillian will be buried in Grange Cemetery in Edinburgh. The daughter of the late Henry William John Taylor and Nancy Taylor (nee Brady), Gillian was born in Perth, Scotland, on December 16th, 1941. She lived with her parents and her three sisters Pamela (who died in 2009), Carol, and Fiona in various parts of central Scotland including Drymen, Gateside and Edinburgh. She went to St. Hildas School in Balfron, Stirlingshire, Scotland where she became a prefect. Gillian worked in various positions in London and in Edinburgh. For some time she worked at the Scotch Whisky Association and later in Real Estate. She married Peter Miles Anson Sherwood on December 18th 1982. After her marriage she lived in Newcastle upon Tyne in England where Peter served on the faculty of the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. Gillian moved permanently to the United States in January 1985 and became a United States Citizen on September 28th 2007. She lived in Manhattan, Kansas from 1985 to 2004 where Peter served on the faculty of Kansas State University. Gillian moved to Stillwater in July 2004. She passed away at her home in Stillwater after suffering from pancreatic cancer. In lieu of flowers it is asked that all donations be made to the Judith Karman Hospice in the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home.
