Glen Eugene Anson

Mr. Glen Eugene Anson, a longtime resident of Perry passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, June 1, 2017. He was 83. Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Perry. A Celebration of Glen's life will be on Monday, June 5, 2017 at 1:00PM at Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Perry. Glen was born July 18, 1933 to Clifford and Clara Violet (Beever) Anson in Larned, Kansas. His family soon moved to Oklahoma when Glen was around the age of 10. He attended and graduated from Byng High School in 1952. Right after graduating from high school, Glen joined the United States Armed Services in 1953 where he served two years in the Army and was honorably discharged as Cpl. Glen E. Anson. After serving the army, Glen pursued a higher education at East Central University in Ada, OK, where he obtained a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics in 1960. Glen married Wanda Faye Davenport on July 20, 1957 in Ada, OK. He worked as a supervising Inspector for the USDA Soil Conservation services until retiring in 1988. While working for the soil conservation services, Glen started Anson Fence Company in 1980 that he owned and operated for the next 29 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed introducing all of his grandchildren to the sport of hunting and fishing that he loved so much. Glen is survived by his wife of 59 years, Wanda of the home; two daughters, Glenda Almack and husband John, and Janet Chafin and husband Burt all of Perry, OK; one son, Philip Anson and wife Patty of Stillwater, OK; eight Grandchildren, Tiffany McCuistion and husband Josh of Houston, TX, Jessica Almack of Edmond, OK, Ben Almack of Stillwater, OK, Matt Anson and Lauren Anson both of Stillwater, OK, Jeremiah Chafin and wife Tori and Briar Chafin all of Perry, OK, and Shelby Moore and husband Clint of Elk City, OK; one great-granddaughter, Lanie McCuistion; three sisters, Kay Anson of Ada, OK, Carolyn Sue McPherson and husband Harold of Cleburne, TX, and Marie Dew, One brother Harold Anson and wife Sharon. Numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family, and a host of friends. He is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Linda; his parents, Clifford and Clara Anson; three brothers, Ed Anson, Jack Anson, and Larry Anson; one sister, Patricia Stone; one Sister-in-law, Peggy Holkum; and three brother-in-laws, Gene Stone, Rudy Dean, and Henry Dew. Glen will be greatly missed, but his memory will live on in the lives of those he touched.
