Gloria Rowland Tietz passed away May 9, 2011 in Atlanta, GA. A memorial service celebrating Glorias life will be held at Palmer Marler Chapel, Stillwater at 11:00 am on Friday, June 24. Pastor James Inman will preside. Internment took place at Fairlawn Cemetery, Stillwater, OK. Gloria was born December 15, 1925 to Mildred and Clarence Rowland. She was raised in Cushing by her mother Mildred Butler and step-father Guy Butler. She graduated from Cushing High School in 1943; and attended business trade school in Texas. Following graduation, she returned to Cushing to work at a local accounting firm. In March 1950 she married John Tietz, a union that lasted more than 40 years until Johns death in 1991. As newlyweds, they moved from Cushing to Stillwater to Midwest City where they made their home and raised two daughters. In 1975, they settled in Eufaula, Ok for their retirement years. Gloria moved to Atlanta, GA in 2007 to be near her daughter Paula. Gloria worked the majority of her life as a book keeper for Dr. VM Rutherford in Midwest City. She enjoyed reading, working cross word and word search puzzles, and playing cards. Gloria was a loving wife, a caring mother and a trusted friend. She will be greatly missed by her family. In addition to her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, her grandson Lee Relford in 2008, and her brother, Larry Butler in 2009. She is survived by her daughters; Paula Tietz Shawn of Atlanta and Janet Tietz of Tucson. She is also survived by three grandchildren; Kyle Shawn, Steven Berry and Melissa Keane and her husband Keathon; and by three great-grandchildren, John, Colton and Natalie.
