Goldie Jelinek Hoskins, a long time Morrison resident, passed away on Friday January 15, 2021 in Shawnee at the age of 94. She left us comfortably to go dancing in heaven.
The oldest daughter of William (Bill) and Ethel (Chartier) Paulsen, she was born May 21, 1926 in Hennessey. She moved to Morrison as a child and graduated from Morrison High School as salutatorian of her class.
She married Richard J. Jelinek on December 30, 1945 in Morrison. They had two daughters, Gail Louise and Linda Darlene. She worked for Southwestern Bell in Ponca City, Perry, Stillwater, and Tulsa as a telephone operator retiring on February 18, 1982 with 27 years and 6 months service.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Morrison, American Legion, and Oklahoma Polka Club.
She was predeceased by her husband, who died October 11, 1989. She later married Gene Hoskins on January 12, 1991 in Morrison. She enjoyed family and friends very much and she was very happy to have an extended family she treated as her own.
Goldie loved to travel. She has been to most of the states and Canada. She loved to collect rocks while she traveled, and had a collection of her rocks made into a rock wall in her den. She also loved to make rock gardens and flower beds, and was known for having a pretty yard. She made a lot of friends with people she met while she traveled and kept in touch with those friends from the different states throughout her life.
Goldie will always be remembered for loving to dance, and for being an excellent cook. We all loved her chocolate pies and angel food cakes she cooked on top of the stove. She loved family gatherings and started the tradition of having a scavenger hunt at Christmas.
Arrangements are under the direction of Dighton Marler Funeral Home in Stillwater. A family graveside service will be held at a later time.
