Harold “Puddin” Payne passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at his home in Stillwater, OK. He was 56. Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater.

A Celebration of Puddin’s life will be held on Friday, October 13, 2017 at 2PM at Immanuel Baptist Church in Perkins, OK, with pastor Michael Cannon officiating. Pallbearers will be Justin Payne, Dennis Henry, Kevin Close, Jory Stanley, Steve Simma, and Kyle Wright. Honorary pallbearers will be Ron Snow, Bob Nunn, Tim Chalfant, Doc Phillips, Bud Bramwell, Maurey Tate, Newell Nelson, Mike King, Micah King, Luke King, Mike Nelson, Ryan McTague, Billy Hensley, Justin Murray, and all of his brothers at Stillwater Fire Department for the past 24 years. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery in Stillwater. Visitation will be Thursday, October 12, 2017 from 9AM to 8PM at Palmer Marler Funeral Home - Stillwater. Family will greet guests from 6PM to 8PM.

Harold was born August 16, 1961 in Stillwater, OK, to Nathan and Margene (Tate) Payne. He grew up in Perkins and graduated from Perkins-Tryon High School in 1979. He met and married Alana Stanton on August 10, 1988 in Norman, OK.

Puddin was a member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association. He earned the title of P.R.C.A. Calf Roping Rookie of the year in 1984. He had many winnings at some Big Rodeos such as, Calgary Stampede, Houston, Lewiston, and others across the Nation. He proudly served the Stillwater Fire Department as a Fire Fighter II and Driver for 24 years. One of Puddin’s greatest joys came from watching every single one of his daughter’s basketball games starting with their elementary years through college. He spent countless hours out in the arena teaching his girls about riding and breaking horses, and watching his wife and daughters barrel race. Puddin was a master griller, avid pond fisherman, and deer hunter. He was known to pull pranks and everyone loved to hear his famous Puddin cackle laugh. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, fire department brothers, and all who knew him.

Puddin was survived by his lovely wife, Alana of the home; three daughters, Liberty Jordan Payne-Wright and husband Kyle of Stillwater, OK, Justice Autumn Payne of Oklahoma City, OK, and Erin Roush-Payne of Stillwater, OK; father, Nathan L. Payne of Stillwater, OK; mother, Margene Pearce and husband, Tom of Stillwater, OK; one sister, Jennifer Nelson and husband Mike of Perry, OK; one brother, Justin Payne of Perkins, OK; three nieces, Jeneva Nelson, Michaelanne Nelson, and Chandler Payne; 8 nephews, Newell Nelson, Micah King, Luke King, Conor McTague, Aiden McTague, Gavin McTague, Jesse Gowin, JW Gowin; 2 great-nieces and one great-nephew; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of countless friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Earl and Gladys Payne and his maternal grandparents, Harold and Geneva Tate.
