The following year they moved to Georgia where Howard worked several jobs at a time to provide for his wife and two sons.
In 1977, the Davis family relocated to Stillwater, OK where Howard became a union carpenter. He spent the next two decades working for Lambert Construction in Stillwater. He later accepted a position with Kelly Construction in Ponca City, OK. Although he was only there a few short years, he met his best crew there and made several lifelong friends. Howard was then hired by Kerr3 Design in Edmond, OK where he served as a construction site superintendant for nearly a decade before being forced into an early retirement in 2012 due to his declining health.
Howard Davis was a hard working, detail oriented, and strong willed man who possessed a tremendous quiet strength. His relationship with the Lord was the top priority in his life and he was a committed member and deacon at Southside Baptist Church since 1977. Howard enjoyed fishing, picking pecans, collecting belt buckles and reading western novels. He was always prompt, generous, and could always be relied on for a good story or sound advice. He will be missed by all who knew him.
