Hubert L .Lasater was born on August 10th, 1912 to Luke L. and Jenny L. (Munday) Lasater in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. Hubert attended school in Pauls Valley, graduating from high school there in 1928. He then attended Oklahoma A&M graduating with a Bachelors Degree in 1933. He obtained his Masters Degree in Science from OSU in 1948. He went on to attend graduate school at Cornell University from 1948 to 1950. He was united in marriage to Ruby Jean (Kinser) on August 10th, 1935 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The couple remained married for over 71 years.
Hubert served in the United States Navy during World War II from 1944-46. He held numerous positions throughout his employment including: Superintendent of Liberty School in Pauls Valley 1933; executive assistant with Oklahoma State A.A.A. 1934-35; county agricultural agent 1935-44; associate state 4-H club leader 1944-46; extension poultry man for the State of Oklahoma 1946-48; extension poultry marketing specialist 1950-52; associate professor of poultry husbandry at Cornell University 1948-49; agriculturalist poultry conservation U.S. Operations Mission, Republic of Lebanon 1952-53; director of agricultural extension 1953-56; department chief agriculturalist 1956-57; chief agriculturalist 1957-58; department of food and agricultural officer, U.S. Operations Mission, Ethiopia 1958-59; acting food and agricultural office 1959-60; agriculturist ICA Washington Africa-Europe Branch of O/Food 1960-61; chief agriculture training AID, Washington, 1962. He was a licensed judge for the American Poultry Association 1946. He was also a Decorated Order of Cedars of Lebanon as well as a Member of Scientist and Engineers Federal Service, National Biological Scientists, National Poultry Science Association, Epsilon Sigma Phi, Alpha Zeta and was a 32 degree Master Mason. He was a Christian man and enjoyed golfing and playing bridge. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and especially enjoyed his grandchildren.
Hubert passed away on October 12th, 2006 at the Grace Living Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He was 94 years old. He is survived by his wife, Ruby of the home; two daughters Betty Jean Spargo of Richmond, Virginia, Elaine McMurphy and husband Wilfred of Stillwater; four grandchildren, Gwendolyn Clingman and husband Edward of Richmond, Virginia, Leslie Spargo of Baton Rouge, LA., Heather McMurphy West and husband Bryan of Stillwater, Carl Alan McMurphy and wife Sandra of The Colony, TX; eight great grandchildren, Ryan and Lauren Clingman, Samantha and Taylor West, Tagen and Dillon McMurphy, Jessica and Blake Damman; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
Services for Hubert will be held on Monday October 16th, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the Palmer Marler Carberry Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Sunset Cemetery. Dr. Jim Struthers will be officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Palmer Marler Carberry Funeral Home. The family requests that flowers be delivered to the funeral home or that donations be made to Judith Karman Hospice, 915 S. Main, Stillwater, OK in Huberts name. The family has entrusted Palmer Marler Carberry Funeral Home with the arrangements.
