James "Jim" Leroy Poulton

September 23, 1957 — May 2, 2020

James “Jim” LeRoy Poulton, Jr. most proudly known as Dad, Pepa, Poppy, passed peacefully from this world on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at home with his wife of 40 years. Jim was born September 23, 1957 in Pawhuska, OK to James and Carleta (Easley) Poulton.

Jim met his wife, Cindy Breshears Poulton, in 1975 while lifeguarding at Boiling Spring State Park. Their love affair began on a simple summer night watching “The Apple Dumplin’ Gang” at the local drive-in movie. Jim and Cindy married on June 16, 1979. In 1980, Jim enlisted in the United States Marine Corp where he trained and worked as an aircraft electrician. “Once a Marine, Always a Marine” was an honor Jim took great pride in. He received an honorable discharged in 1984.

Jim completed his college education at Oklahoma State University with a degree in electrical engineering in 1990. He loved the challenge of new work adventures working as an electrical engineer, product tester, plumber, agricultural spraying and security.

The very best parts of Jim’s life began when their first child, Kyla, was born. His family was completed by the births of a second daughter Amber and a son, Jamie. Jim spend countless hours at the local parks pushing swings, walking/playing at the lake, fishing, coaching sports (baseball, softball, wrestling, football). A special memory for Jim was being able to help coach his girls in their multiple state tournament appearances in high school. Wherever the kids were Jim would be also playing, teaching, coaching, helping out and cheering from the sidelines.

In 2003 came the first of seven perfect grandchildren. Jim’s desire to always be there for everything they did was strong; seldom missing a performance of t-ball, softball, wrestling, soccer, volleyball, and school performances. He loved spending time with them at Kaw Lake walking and “gathering goodies”, playing at the park or driving the dirt roads.

Jim is survived by his wife, Cindy, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Kyla Poulton and Jeremy Galloway of Morrison, OK; son, Jamie Poulton of Morrison, OK; grandchildren, Brayleigh Galloway, Hudson Galloway, Carter Galloway, Lyric Galloway, Austen Armstrong, Peyton Poulton, and James L Poulton, III. He is also survived by his mother, Carleta Poulton of Pawhuska, OK; two brothers, Ray Poulton of MO, and Cap Poulton of Pawhuska, OK, and a sister, Carleta Poulton of Fairfax, OK. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Amber Poulton; and his father, James Poulton.

The greater the love, the greater the loss. Jim will be missed every day, but without a doubt, he will be with us in spirit and in the memories we hold on to.

Condolences may be sent to the family via an online guestbook at www.dightonmarler.com
