James Melvin Wellington

Memorial services for James Melvin Jim Wellington, 71, of Glencoe are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Monday, December 7, 2009 at Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater. Services are under the direction of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Stillwater.
Jim was born on September 22, 1938 in North Hollywood, CA to Fred Wellington and Vivian (Ricketts) Wellington. He attended schools in CA until his family relocated to Stillwater, OK in 1948. He then attended schools in Stillwater. At the age of 17, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps, where he was stationed in South Korea. He came back to the U.S. and was honorably discharged on April 4, 1962. It was then that he started his career as a salesman. Jim worked for RC Cola in Ponca City for a short time before becoming employed by Coors, where he remained for 18 years. He then went to work for Cains Coffee, retiring from there in 1991 due to poor health. He was a member of the Eagles for several years. He and Donna were married on December 31, 1995 in Glencoe. He loved to go fishing, camping, and being around people. Jim passed away Thursday, December 3, 2009 in Stillwater.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Donna of the home; six daughters, Tracy Reeves Taylor and Jeffery Taylor, Stacy and Terry Seaberry, Debbie Wellington, Geneva Wellington, Brenda Wellington, and Sandy Callari, all of Stillwater; six step-children, Neal and Luann Vassar of Weatherford, Ronnie and Robin Miller of Coweta, Mark Dunbar, Rhonda Johnson, Troy and Michelle Vassar, and Karen Vassar, all of Perry; one sister, Bev Crow; eleven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends.
