Janice Marie (Jan) Montgomery, passed away peacefully with family by her side at her home in Perry on Monday, October 19, 2009 after a courageous three year battle with cancer at the age of 57. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 22, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church in Perry with Reverend Ed Cook officiating. Interment will follow at Grace Hill Cemetery, Perry. Family will greet friends from 6pm-8pm on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at the funeral home. Janice was born on November 19, 1951 in Fairfax, Oklahoma to the late Clarence Adrian and Maxine (Redburn) Wehling. She grew up and graduated from Perry High School. Jan married Larry Montgomery on September 17, 1970 in Guthrie, Oklahoma. To this union, three children were born. She was a business owner located in the historical downtown Perry square, Jan Montgomery Income Tax Service and Jan Montgomery Bail Bonds. Jan was also a Noble County Department of Corrections Probation Officer. Jan was very active in the Perry community, where she was a member of the Perry Chamber of Commerce, Oklahoma Bailbonds Association, Blue Bird Leader, Elks Camping Club and the Moose Lodge. She enjoyed crocheting, shopping, camping, fishing, horseback riding, watching the leaves change, holidays, singing and dancing. Jan especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends. Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Larry Montgomery of the home, son Erik Montgomery of Perry, daughters Pepper Rice and husband Lance of Stillwater, Ginger Thomas and husband Brian of Perry; step daughter, Gina Martinez and husband Raymond of Enid, parents John and Maxine Heskett of Perry, brothers David Heskett and wife Teresa of Yale, Mike Wehling of Perry, sister Ja-net Windiate and husband Wendell of Coyle, grandchildren Luke and Jake Havenstrite Thomas, Brady Thomas, Abigail and Annabelle Rice. She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Adrian Wehling. Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society or Relay for Life c/o Perry Funeral Home 203 E. Fir, Perry, OK 73077.
