Jessica was born April 3, 1984 to Robert Vasquez and Susan (Harrell) Henderson in Edmond, Oklahoma. She was a 2002 valedictorian of Ripley High School, earned All-State honors in both Fast Pitch and Slow Pitch softball under a coach she loved and admired, Tony Cazzelle, completed her Bachelor Degree in Education from Oklahoma State University in 2012 and was currently working towards her Masters in Administration through Southern Nazarene University. She married Kenneth Hornberger of Perkins on December 5, 2009 and was super mom to her two precious baby girls, Tallie, 2, and Aniston, 1.
Jessica was involved in a 6 week summer RET (research experiences for teachers) program through the engineering department at Oklahoma State University under the direction of Dr. Sundar Madihally. She researched the strength of scaffolding for new technology to aid in repairing human tissue that has been damaged due to illness, disease or injury. Jessica researched different compositions of materials and chemicals involved with the scaffold. As a participant she researched, performed testing, and wrote a scientific paper discussing her results. This experience gave Jessica increased insight to the world of science and engineering which fueled a deeper passion for her career in education and the students who touched her life as she touched theirs. She taught middle school science in Agra Public Schools in 2012 where she introduced the students to robotic technology, taking a team to their first global conference and competition during the summer. She was currently teaching pre-engineering at Central Technology Center in Drumright, Oklahoma.
Jessica was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Bernon Vasquez; and her maternal grandparents, Bob and Judy Harrell.
