Jim C. Lane, 70, of Stillwater, passed from this life on Sunday, September 11, 2011. Services have been entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home and will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at the Mehan Union Church at 8300 E 68th Stillwater, OK. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 from 8am to 8pm.
Jim was born March 8, 1941 in Ravia, OK to Clifton Cleo Lane and Wanda Rene (Sharp) Lane. He attended schools in the Ravia area, before continuing his education at Murray State College in Tishomingo, OK. On December 23, 1960, Jim married his best-friend, Charlene McCarthick at the Bullard Chapel Baptist Church in Tishomingo. After more than 50 years of marriage, they were more in love than ever. Jim and Charlene raised two children, Dusty and Kelly. He worked as a successful home builder for many years before accepting a job at the Oklahoma State University Physical Plant. Jim retired from OSU after more than 15 years of service.
Jim was a man who enjoyed his life. He was a 32nd degree Mason with the Perkins Lodge 92, as well as a member of the Akdar Shrine in Tulsa. Jim attended the Baptist Church and served as a volunteer for Judith Karman Hospice. Jim Lane will be remembered for his kindness, positivity, and his ability to bring a smile to any face. He was a practical joker who enjoyed looking for the positive in every situation and making people laugh. He was unselfish to a fault and was always ready to encourage his friends and family with a sincere and thoughtful compliment. He enjoyed working on his land, fishing, and tinkering. Jim loved spending time with his family, especially his great grandson, Kyler.
Jim will be remembered as a loyal husband, a caring father, a proud grandpa, and an honest friend. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Jim is survived by his wife, Charlene, of the home. A son: Dusty Lane and wife, Jayne, of Stillwater, OK. A daughter: Kelly Hackler-Wakeling and husband, Robert, of Stillwater, OK. A brother: Joe Lane of Ft. Worth, TX. Five grandchildren: Amber, Morgan, Brooklyn, Ben, and Harriet. A great grandchild: Kyler, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda White, and infant sister Theda Jane Lane.
