Jim Jacob

March 20, 1949 — October 14, 2013

Jim Jacob, 64, of Stillwater passed from this life on October 14, 2013 in Tulsa, OK. Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home and a graveside service celebrating Jims life will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday October 17 at the Perkins Cemetery in Perkins, OK.
James Ralph Jacob was born on March 20, 1949 to Ralph and Catherine Kitty (Hinrichs) Jacob in Stillwater, OK. He was raised in Stillwater, graduating from Stillwater High School in 1967. Following high school, Jim attended Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College and Oklahoma State University. In 1971, Jim married Jane Wolff and the couple moved to Oklahoma City where Jim began working for the stockyards. Jim and Jane moved back to the Stillwater area and he continued working for several years as an order buyer and auctioneering in OKC before going to work for the El Reno sale barn.
In 1997, Jim retired and became self-employed as an avid collector of no longer prized possessions. He enjoyed farming, attending auctions, and trading the treasures he collected. Jim was a kind and selfless person who never met a stranger. He was a family man who loved his kids and adored his grandkids. He was ornery, enjoyed telling jokes and playing pranks on his family and friends. Jim spent several years caring for his mother and never missed a chance to spend time at her side. Although Jim had several health issues himself, he never complained. No matter how he felt, if you asked him how he was doing, he always said Im great. Jim made many friends and touched many lives and he will be missed by all who knew him.
Jim Jacob was preceded in death by his parents: Ralph and Kitty Jacob and a grandson Wyatt Jacob. His legacy will continue through the lives of his sons: Shane Jacob and wife Jessica, of Carney and Lance Jacob and wife Amanda, of Stillwater. Other surviving family members include Jims brother Tom Jacob and wife Beverly, of Frisco, TX. Four grandchildren: Andrew Johnson and Cole, Chance, and Lily Jacob. Two aunts: Polly Putnam and husband Bill, of Stillwater and Carrie Shirley of Tulsa, as well as his ex-wife and good friend Jane Jacob.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Jims name to Companion Hospice in care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home 5106 N. Washington, Stillwater, OK 74075.
Condolences may be sent to the family via an online guestbook at www.pmcfh.com
