Joan Evelyn Moore

March 28, 1936 — February 4, 2013

Joan Evelyn Cordner Moore, 76, of Stillwater, OK, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2013, in Tulsa, OK. Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home and interment will be held privately at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY.

Born March 28, 1936, in Greenwich, NY, she was the daughter of the late Edward G. and Dorothy Melendy Cordner. Joan graduated Salutatorian of the Class of 1954 from Greenwich Central High School, in Washington County, NY, where she married her husband, the late Henry Bob Robert Moore on March 2, 1957. She attended the College of St. Rose in Albany, NY, before starting a family and moving to Latham, NY. She was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and an organist at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Latham, NY, Campaign volunteer for the Town of Colonie Republican Party, NY, member of the American Legion Auxiliary #515 of Greenwich, NY, and retired from the Underwriters Rating Board. Joan also enjoyed the friends she made as a member of the Moose Lodge and The Eagles in Stillwater, OK

Joan loved cooking; trying any new recipes she could get her hands on, then recruiting testers. Computer and internet changed the world for Joan, allowing her to play games, make greeting cards she was so proud to send, share pictures, and communicate with family and friends no matter where she was or how she felt. She became an avid Oklahoma City Thunder fan and she adored her canine companions.

Having traveled to different states and tourist attractions, Joans greatest love was the many trips she and Bob made to visit family and friends in Stillwater, OK., enjoying all the country western music concerts and events like the Annual Country Fest and Calf Frys held at her sons place, Tumbleweeds. Treated as VIP, Joan would beam, sharing her stories of those she personally met, including the Bellamy Brothers, Merle Haggard, Joe Nichols and Willie Nelson to name just a few. It was this love and her health that prompted Joan and Bob to call Stillwater, OK their home in 2005 and she continued to remain even after the death of her beloved Bob on January 31, 2008.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Moore was predeceased by her infant son, Stephen Edward Moore. Survivors include her children, Henry Hank R. Moore, Jr. of Stillwater, OK, and Therese Terri Moore Roberts of Latham, NY, son-in-law Fred Roberts of Newtonville, NY; three grandchildren, Stephen Roberts Tara Griffin, and Erica Roberts. two great-grandchildren, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The family wishes to thank Stillwater Mobile Meals, the staff at Westhaven, the 3rd floor nurses at SMC and Dr. Steven Cummings for their kindness, compassion, and wonderful treatment of Joan Moore over the past few years.
