JoAnne Marie Carr

JoAnne Marie Carr, born on September 30, 1963, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2025, in Morrison, Oklahoma. 

JoAnne was the cherished daughter of Paula Jo Cook (Whitesell/Allen) and George Cook. She spent her early years in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Goliad, Texas. On October 7, 1986, she married Charles Carr, sharing a loving partnership until his passing in 1998. Joanne pursued her education with determination, earning multiple degrees from Oklahoma State University. She later dedicated over 20 years of her career to the university, leaving a lasting impact through her work. 

JoAnne had a profound love for animals, especially cats. She rescued and cared for many over the years, providing them with a safe and nurturing home. In addition to her devotion to animals, Joanne enjoyed playing online games and treasured moments spent with friends. 

JoAnne was preceded in death by her husband and parents. She is survived by her brothers, Robert Bruce Allen Jr. (Lexie), Raymond Ezekiel Allen, and Wendell Lee Cook. 

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on January 20, 2025, at the Dighton-Marler Funeral Home in Stillwater, Oklahoma. A graveside service will be held as we lay Joanne to rest alongside her late husband, Charles Carr, at the Fort Gibson National Cemetery following the funeral.

JoAnne’s memory will endure in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her kindness and compassion will continue to inspire and bring comfort to all who mourn her loss.
