Joel Brown

Joel “Joe” F. Brown, 82, passed away on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at his home in Stillwater. Services have been entrusted to the care of Dighton-Marler Funeral Home, Stillwater, Oklahoma. There will be a private family service. Visitation will be at Dighton-Marler Funeral Home Chapel, Thursday, November 19 from 1 PM to 8 PM. and Friday, November 20 9:00A.M. to 5:00P.M. Burial will be at Fairlawn Cemetery in Stillwater with at tentative date of Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at 3:00 PM.
Joe was born on February 5, 1938 in Delhi, Oklahoma to Albert and Cora (Mitchell) Brown. Joe grew up in Stillwater and married the love of his life, Phyllis Mae (Donovan), on April 24, 1958 in Tyrone, Oklahoma. They began their life together travelling the country for various jobs and eventually settled in Commerce City, Colorado where he was the plant manager of Ardco Corporation. In 1979, Joe relocated his family back to Stillwater where he owned many small businesses. In the mid 80s, Joe opened up Joe Brown Sand and Gravel, which he operated until his death. Joe was the best gravel spreader around, just ask anyone.
Joe’s hobbies included watching NASCAR, racing stock cars, and working but his greatest joy was spending time with his family. He was so proud, and often spoke of, the legacy he knew he would leave behind some day.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents Albert and Cora, brothers Paul Brown and Leon Brown, one sister Sarah Bradley, and his son-in-law Rick Perry.
Joe is survived by his wife of 62 years, Phyllis of the home, his children Donna Perry, Deana Devine and husband Johnnie, Teresa Brown, and Jim Brown and wife Tracie, all of Stillwater, Oklahoma. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Steven, Ryan, Whitney, Kayla, Tanner, Jace, and Jack and eleven great grandchildren, Stephanie, Samantha, Sylus, Emi, David, Ethan, Everly, Isabella, Lilly, Wylee, and Gus. He is also survived by his sister Ruth Woolworth and husband Wesley, sister-in-laws Sallie Brown and Noreen Brown, and brother-in-law Laverne Bradley.
Above all else, Joe was a dedicated husband, loving father, brother, uncle, a really fun G-Pa, and a believer in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
