John Carl Scheihing

John Carl Scheihing was born on March 30th, 1935 to Rudolf and Mary Scheihing in Guthrie, Oklahoma. John attended high school in Shawnee, Oklahoma where he graduated in 1954. He then enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country in 1955 and 1956. After his service, he attended Oklahoma State University where he graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Engineering.
John remained living in Stillwater and was fortunate to marry his best friend, Carolyn Mott, on August 16th, 1964 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. John was employed as a Professor at OSU teaching at the School of Technology in the School of Engineering until his retirement in 1993. After retiring from OSU, he was employed at Ditchwitch in Perry, Oklahoma from 1993 until his retirement in 2002.
John was very passionate about teaching. He enjoyed his job and was teaching even if the job did not require him to do so. John was also a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. He enjoyed traveling and especially enjoyed taking trips to Lake City, Colorado where he would stay camping and cooking and fishing for trout. He enjoyed cooking on the grill and gardening. When gardening, he was interested in the science behind gardening and created several different types of hybrid trees and plants. He enjoyed being outdoors and especially loved spending time with his family.
John passed away on June 2nd, 2006 at his home in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He was 71 years old. John is survived by his wife, Carolyn Scheihing of the home; One Son, Terry Scheihing and partner Ben Kramer of Seattle, Washington; One Daughter, Monica Miller and husband John of South Oklahoma City; Two Grandchildren, Donovan and Katelyn Miller; a Brother and Sister-in-law, Edwin and Rozine Scheihing of Edmond, OK; Nephews Jeff Scheihing and wife Trish and Jim Scheihing and wife Kari both of Edmond, OK; other relatives and a host of friends. John was preceded in death by his parents and a step-father, Tommy Thompson.
Services for John Scheihing will be held at the Palmer Marler Carberry Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7th. Carlton Reimer will be officiating. Visitation will be held at Palmer Marler Carberry Funeral Home on Sunday from 1p.m. 6 p.m. and Monday and Tuesday from 8 a.m. 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donation be made to Judith Karman Hospice at 915 S.
