John H. Jack Spencer passed from this life on February 8, 2014 in Stillwater, OK at the age of 82. Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Stillwater, Oklahoma. A memorial service will be held at Glenwood Cemetery on March 2, 2014 at 2pm.
Jack was born on June 2, 1931 in Elmira, New York to Earl and Laura (Kennedy) Spencer. Jack proudly served his country in the US Navy and the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. After serving his country, Jack married the love of his life, Leona Bartoo on June 5, 1965 in Wellsboro, PA. He and Leona moved to Stillwater in 1976. They celebrated 33 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on October 25, 1998. Jack worked in many trades in his lifetime in Pennsylvania and Oklahoma. Jack loved the simple life, spending time with his family and cooking out.
Jack is preceded in death by his wife, Leona (Bartoo) Spencer; parents, Earl and Laura (Kennedy) Spencer; two brothers, Sonny Spencer and Jim Spencer; and one sister, June Royer.
Jack is survived by his son, Carvel Spencer and wife, Shelly; three grandchildren, Carle (Spencer) Santelli and husband, James, Laci Spencer and Dan, Griffen Spencer and Randa; two great grandchildren, Anthony and Jade; two sisters, Fern Graham and Mary Ann Eckman and husband, Bob; two brothers Tom Spencer and Pat Spencer and wife, Patty, and numerous relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a memorial be made in honor of John H. Jack Spencer to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675
