John Isaac Green

John Isaac Green went to Heaven Sunday morning, September 19, 2021. He was born 91 years ago, May 18, 1930, in Tupelo, Oklahoma, the third of four children born to Christena M. Cragar Green and Walter Travis Green. He married Mariuse M. Harding on January 16, 1950. They had two children, Beverly and J. Steven. John was owner of Lee Glass and Window. He has been active in First United Methodist Church, Kiwanis Club, Jaycees, Downtown Stillwater Unlimited and many more organizations. He was named Stillwater Businessman of the year in 1986. He was recognized in 2016 as a Fellow of the Society of John Wesley (United Methodist Men). Official retirement came in 2016 after 60 years.
He leaves a great legacy of living for and serving Jesus. Many remember receiving one of his cross pennies, normally with the words, “It makes ‘cents’ to follow Jesus!” Looking forward to seeing John again one day are his wife, Mariuse, daughter, Beverly Hollingsworth (David) and son, Steven Green (Sonya); grandchildren Andrew Hollingsworth (Rachel Dawn), Anna Williamson (Ben), Jonathan Hollingsworth (Rachel Jean) and Seth Green; eight great-grandchildren with number nine due next week, sister-in-law Doris Green, seven nieces and nephews, many cousins, and many, many others he treasured and impacted. He would want you to know: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16.
A Memorial Service is scheduled at the First United Methodist Church, Stillwater, on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 1:00 PM.
