John Mccorgary Jr.

John McCorgary, Jr. a longtime Stillwater resident, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2015 at the Stillwater Hospital at the age of 86.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Stillwater, OK. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, Oct. 9, 2015 at the St. Francis Catholic Church. Rosary services will be held at 6:00 p.m., Thursday at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Stillwater, Ok. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m., on Friday Oct. 9, 2015 at St. Marys Cemetery, Winfield, KS.

John was born on August 30, 1929 in Harper, Kansas to the late John Sr. and Idona Ruth (White) McCorgary. He grew up and attended school outside of Wichita, Kansas. John worked on a farm for his Uncle Dan McCorgary for several years. He was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1950 serving his country during the Korean War on the front line. For his service, he received 5 Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. After returning from Korea, John was a Military Policeman at Fort Leavenworth in Kansas. Following his return from the service, John resumed farming. He also worked in the grocery business, drove a truck and ran pizza delivery for Pizza Inn.

John is survived by his son Daniel McCorgary and wife Pamela of Arkansas City, Ks., daughters Mary Kelly of Stillwater, Jeanie Munce of Sioux Falls, SD, Janet Rodriquez and husband Terry of Wichita, KS, grandchildren Erika Hansen, Brian Tanner, Audra Tanner, Jeff Tanner, Carter Munce, Misty Lambert, Ryan Lambert and Aaron Kelly, and several great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Thelma McCorgary, son John McCorgary, son-in-law Sean Kelly, brothers Jimmy, Daniel, Ed and Don McCorgary, sister Virginia McCorgary.
