John William Anderson Iii

February 6, 1954 — February 23, 2016

John William Anderson III, 62, of Stillwater passed peacefully from this life on February 23, 2016 at his home. Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home and a service celebrating Johns life will be held on Saturday, February 27th at 10am at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel. Public visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 12pm to 8pm.
John was born on February 6, 1954 in Washington D.C. to John William Anderson Jr. and Barbara (Geist) Anderson. He grew up in California, but the family relocated to Agra, OK where he attended high school his senior year. Following graduation, John enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Texas. He served as an infantryman during the Vietnam War.
After his honorable discharge from the Army, John married Rebecca Patterson and had three daughters: Lorie, Heather, and Amanda. He went to work at the Swan Rubber plant in Stillwater where he remained employed until the plants closing. He then decided to begin a successful career as a painting contractor working in the OKC metro area with his father. John and Becky divorced in 1983 and the following year John began working at National Standard and he began dating Carole Sanford. John and Carole quickly fell in love and in 1985 they began a marriage that would last 31 years and would provide them with a fourth daughter, Joy Katie Anderson. John remained at National Standard for more than a decade until deciding to return to his career as a painter for a short time before retiring due to health complications.
John was a hard worker and a dedicated father. He would often work as many overtime shifts as possible to help offset the expenses of having four girls taking dance lessons. John was a talented man, who considered himself quite the artist. Most of his masterpieces consisted of informal doodling in his notebook, but he was proud of his creations and enjoyed showing them off to his family. He preferred the quiet peacefulness of his home where he could often be found playing spades, watching car shows or playing with his furry best friend Klutch. John was a loyal and loving husband who cared deeply for his wife. He was a proud and protective father who tried to do the little things, like buying jewelry and other gifts for his girls. John packed a lot of love into his short 62 years of life and he will truly be missed by all who knew him.
John was preceded in death by his father John Anderson Jr. Left behind to carry on his legacy are his wife and soul mate Carole Sanford Anderson; his mother Barbara Hutchinson; four daughters: Lorie Anderson (Jason Inkelaar), Heather Anderson (Brandon Smith), Amanda Anderson (Joshua Fuchs) and Joy Anderson (Trevor Lambert); seven grandchildren: Robert James, Liberty Mae Anderson, Evan McDaniel, Taylor McDaniel, Kaylee McDaniel, Bryce McDaniel and Colbi Anderson. He is also survived by his siblings: Shirley Cato, A.G. Armstrong (Carol), Susan Holley (Steve), Martin Anderson, and Dee Douglas (Wayne), as well as his dog Klutch.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Johns name to the American Red Cross.
