Johnnie Dean Lockett, Sr.

Funeral services for Johnnie Dean Lockett, 65, of Stillwater are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 13, 2010 at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Calvin Miller and Melvin Lorenzo Lockett officiating. Services are under the direction of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Stillwater.
Johnnie Dean Lockett was born in Stillwater, OK on June 20, 1944 to the proud parents Samuel Lockett, Jr. and Vera Mae Talley Lockett. He accepted the Lord early in life. Johnnie Dean attended Washington High School and later C.E. Donart High, Stillwater, OK. In the late 1960s, he married Connie Campbell and to this union, four sons were born: John Lockett, Jr., Clayton, Bruce, and Gary. He later married Donna Payne and to this union, two sons were born: Mario Jaamal and Tony.
He lived in CA for nine years; and moved back to OK where he became a member of the Church of God in OKC. He moved to Ponca City where he spent the majority of his adult life. Johnnie Dean moved back to Stillwater in 2005, where he became a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Calvin Miller. He was an active member in the Brotherhood; he would drive Pastor Miller around until his health began to fail him.
His greatest loves were fishing, sports, bingo, dominoes, and cooking; he also loved spending time with his great nieces and nephews: Rayshad, Shalai, Jalahs, Dansyar, and Sas-sha. His special friends were Dewell Turner Jr., Tommy Lewis Verner, Charles McGlory Jr., Otis Lawson, and Marva Williams.
He leaves to cherish his memory one son of the home Mario Jamaal Lockett, John Jr (Hominy), Clayton Derrell (McAlester), Bruce, Tony, and Gary (Kelsie) of Ponca City, OK; six brothers, Edward Eugene (Rhoda), Samuel Arthur (Patricia), Donnie, Rodney (Keshaun), Curtis (Clara), and Samuel Lockett III; eight sisters, Loyce Nadine (len), Thelma Elaine, Karolyn (Raymond), Nelda Faye, Vera Jean, Jackie, Connie, Sharmetrice (Meta), Rose Marie Lockett, and Kay Pennant; two uncles. He also leaves to cherish his memory, a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Johnnie Dean was preceded in death by Samuel Lockett Jr., Edward Eugene Sr., Vera Mae Lawson, and Louise Lockett.
Active pallbearers will be Dewell Turner Jr., Tommy Verner, Lewis Payne Sr., George Lockett, Ellis Lockett, and John Moore Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Lawson, Derrick McDonald, Charles McGlory Sr., Malcolme Day, William Verner, Matthew Crandle Jr., Brandon Lawson, and Andre Linzy.
