Johnny Dwight J.D. Elwood Sr. of Morrison, OK, passed away at his home on March 28, 2017. J.D. was born in Mooreland, OK, on May 8, 1947, to Dale and Maxine Elwood. He graduated from Glencoe High School in 1965 where he met his wife Billie (Childers). His career began managing the family farm alongside his father, he also worked at OG&E and then served as a machinist at Ditch Witch until his retirement in 2009.
J.D. was a man with outstanding work ethic, faith, character, dedication and love for his family. Anyone who knew J.D. knew the tremendous pride he had in the accomplishments of his sons and grandchildren, meticulously maintaining his property and his passion for University of Oklahoma athletics. He is survived by his wife, Billie (Childers) Elwood; sons J.D. Jr. of Ponca City, OK; Cody of Oklahoma City; daughter-in-laws Natalie and Stephanie, who were very special to him; brother Jerry Elwood (Judy) of Carney, OK; sister Judy Lentz (Tommy) of Pasco, WA; mother-in-law Maxine Childers of Glencoe, OK; his beloved grandchildren J.D. III Trey, Keller, Landry and Teagan Elwood; sisters-in-law, Christie Shell (Larry), Margie Garringer (Bob), Linda Watson (Terry), Marilyn Sullivan (Rick).
He is proceeded in death by his parents Dale and Maxine, and his father-in-law Bill Childers.
There will be a visitation with his family for friends and family on Sunday, April 2, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Palmer Marler Carberry Funeral Home in Stillwater. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made in his memory to Glencoe Church of Christ, c/o Palmer Marler Funeral Home 5106 N. Washington, Stillwater, Oklahoma 74075.
