Jon Michel Porter, 46, passed from this life on Thursday, September 10, 2015 in Oklahoma City. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, September 17, 2015 with Pastor Caleb Camp officiating. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery.
Jon was born on October 21, 1968 to Patrick and Maria Porter in Stillwater, OK. He grew up in Stillwater and attended school at Stillwater High School. After high school, Jon moved to Oregon and Washington for his job working on and building custom guitars (in his work he was very detailed and concerned with the quality of the product) and to further his education. After working in the Northwest for multiple years, Jon moved back to Oklahoma to be closer to family. While living in Oklahoma, Jon reunited with the love of his life; his highschool sweetheart Michelle (Anthony), they were head over heels in love and married on January 16, 2014 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. They spent all their free time together antique shopping, watching movies, and he enjoyed cooking for Michelle and making her laugh.
Jons hobbies included playing guitar, building custom guitars, cooking, collecting globes, art and was passionate about music. Jon was very knowledgeable and humble, he was liked by most, although some were intimidated by his intelligence and unwillingness to suffer ignorance. Jon had a good mind for politics and an amazing facility for recalling facts and historical events. People who knew him were impressed with the scope of his knowledge. He had a huge heart and cared for all his friends and family.
He will be missed by all who knew him.
Jon is preceded in death by his sister, Caryn.
Jon is survived by his loving wife, Michelle Porter; his mother, Maria Kress; his father, Patrick Porter; four children, Nicholas Jackson, Simon Jackson, Noah Jackson, and Silvia Jackson; two brothers, Jeff Porter and Jason Porter.
