Josephine Ritter, 88, of Glencoe, Oklahoma passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2018 in Phoenix, Arizona. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at 2:00p.m. at Dighton Marler Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater. Interment will follow at Glencoe South Cemetery. Dighton Marler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Josephine was born on April 7, 1930 in Haliimaile, Hawaii to Cayetano and Rosa (Felicisimo) Mercades. She grew up in Maui and graduated from Maui High School in 1948. She married Gene Ritter on June 7, 1968 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Josephine enjoyed many activities including bowling, crocheting and knitting, reading and crossword puzzles. She had a great love for all animals and flowers. She loved most of all spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and all of her friends.
Josephine is preceded in death by her parents, one daughter Joann Smith, sister, Valentina Amano, and two brothers, Pollo and Modesto.
She is survived by her husband Gene Ritter of the home, children; Edward Neil Thompson, Linda Kay (Thompson) Oswalt and her husband Larry and Hazel Jean Caldwell and her husband Dorrin and her grandchildren; Bonnie Kelly, Shanna Carter, Haley Thompson, Nash Thompson and Allana Caldwell and one great granddaughter Emma Grace Kelley. She is also survived by her siblings; Eusebia Horiuchi of Maui, Lawrence Mercades of Chicago and Johnny Mercades of Oahu. Josephine is also survived by many Ritter family in-laws, nieces and nephews.
