Josie Faye Evans

Josie F. “Toots” Evans, 87, of Stillwater, OK, formerly of Shawnee, OK, passed away Monday, February 19, 2018 at Renaissance Assisted Living Center in Stillwater, OK. Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of Dighton-Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater, OK.

Graveside services will be 1PM Monday, February 26, 2018 at Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee, OK. Pastor Will Wilson will officiate. Visitation will be 9AM to 5PM Thursday, February 22, 2018, Friday, February 23, 2018, and 1PM to 6PM Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Dighton-Marler Funeral Home in Stillwater.

Josie was born January 3, 1931 in Tecumseh, OK, to J.K. and Ruby (Edwards) Hooley. She was one of 14 children born to this union. She married Homer Floyd Evans, Jr. on June 18, 1948. They were blessed with 68 years of marriage until Floyd’s passing in 2016. She lived in Shawnee for many years until moving to Stillwater to be closer to family when her health began to fail her. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Shawnee. She loved garage sales, estate sales, and traveling to Las Vegas with her husband.

She is survived by two daughters, Connie Banta and husband Rick of Tuttle, OK, and Terry McCall and husband Billy of Broken Arrow, OK; four granddaughters, Jaree Spurlock of Tuttle, OK, Erin Sexson and husband, Charles of Oklahoma City, OK, Sharie Wilhoit and husband, Kerry of Purcell, OK, Kaci Metcalf and husband, Garrett of Glenpool, OK; nine great-grandchildren, Garrett, Ella, and Asher Spurlock of Tuttle, OK, Thomas and Robert Sexson of Oklahoma City, OK, Klaire and Karter Wilhoit of Purcell, OK, Logan and Reese Metcalf of Glenpool, OK; one sister, Wanda Miller of Ponca City, OK; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends and her Renaissance extended family. She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She will be greatly missed.
