Judy Bevins

June 13, 1943 — May 14, 2015

Judy (Payne) Bevins, 71, passed from this life at Integris Baptist Hospital, in Oklahoma City, on Thursday, May 14, 2015, surrounded by family and friends. Services are entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Perry. A memorial service will be held at the Perry Church of Christ, Friday, May 22, at 2:00 P.M. Judy was born to Ted and Patsy Payne on June 13, 1943, in Hugo, OK. Her father"s job enabled Judy and her family to live in several different places in Oklahoma over the course of her childhood. During the time she lived in Pawnee, OK, she made many of her lifelong friends. She graduated from Pawnee High School in 1961. On December 24, 1961, Judy married Bill Bevins, the love of her life. Judy and Bill then moved to California, living there while Bill served his country. Judy didn"t mind moving, because she loved to travel. She especially loved traveling by train. Judy also enjoyed several trips to Europe throughout her life. After Bill completed his military service, they returned to Oklahoma, moving to the Tulsa area, and settling in Jenks. Judy worked as a rural mail carrier, making friends with many people simply by talking to them, and showing them how much she cared about them. She became an active member of the Carbondale Church of Christ, where she served as a Sunday school and daycare teacher. She made even more lifelong friends here. Second only to being a wife to Bill, Judy loved being a mother. Judy and Bill had three fun-loving boys, Bradley, Timothy, and Bryan. She was a caring, loving and conscientious mother. Bill and Judy eventually moved to Perry where they attended the Perry Church of Christ. She was very active with the church and continued serving as a Sunday school teacher. She loved helping to shape the minds of younger generations. Judy began her career in the medical field as an office worker for Dr. Sayre before going to work for Drs. Baird and Hartwig, where she spent 20 years as their office manager before she retired. Another of Judy"s greatest treasures was becoming a grandmother. She loved spending as much time as possible with her granddaughter, Marissa. Judy was a patient and caring woman who loved her Lord and Savior, and her family and friends. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Judy is preceded in death by her father, Ted Payne. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, William "Bill" Wayne Bevins; her three sons, Bradley Wayne Bevins, Timothy Ted Bevins, Bryan Keith Bevins and wife, Tanya; her mother, Patsy Ruth Leonard; two siblings, Robert Ted Payne and Pattie Sue McFadden; and her granddaughter, Marissa Ann Bevins. Memorial donations may be made to the Perry Church of Christ, in care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Perry, P.O. Box 189, Perry, OK, 73077, or to the charity of your choice. Condolences may be sent to the family via an online guestbook at www.perrycares.com.
