Judy Loraine Griffin

December 18, 1947 — December 7, 2024

Marshall

Judy was born December 18, 1947, on the family farm north of Lucien, Oklahoma. She was the youngest daughter of Fred and Geraldine Loraine (Hearne) Avery. Judy grew up with her six siblings and lived in the Covington community most of her life, always wanting to be close to family. She married Cleo Wayne Gottfried on January 10, 1964, from which she was graced with two daughters. On July 9, 1977 Judy married Matthew Blaine Griffin, together they were honored with a son to make their family circle complete. Judy and Matt were blessed with 47 years together before her passing on Saturday, December 7, 2024. She passed peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Judy worked various jobs throughout her life which included working at the City of Perry, Parks Department and Ditch Witch before retiring from the Perry Hospital in 2010. She enjoyed her flower beds, watching the hummingbirds, as well as gardening and canning. She was known for her pickles, pickled okra, and sauerkraut, as well as her peanut patties and banana nut bread. She loved vacationing in the mountains of Colorado, riding the back roads searching for animals and gold hunting. She also enjoyed fishing, playing cards, marbles, and the slots. Above all, her family was the most precious enjoyment to her. She always made time to spend with her children and grandchildren making memories that would be treasured forever.

Those left to celebrate Judy’s memory include her husband, Matt of the home; daughters, Shelly Beckham of Frisco, TX, and Kristina Crosby and husband Patrick of Covington, OK; son, Brian Griffin of Springfield, MO; granddaughters, Michelle and Jessica Beckham, and Misty Crosby; grandsons, Kaven and Alex Crosby, Tyler and Tristen Griffin; great-grandsons, Cooper Crosby and Calyn Griffin; brothers, Freddie Avery and wife Louise of Hempstead, TX, Billy Avery and wife Brenda of Covington, OK, and Tommy Avery and wife Sondra of Covington, OK; nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Geraldine Avery; sister, Carolyn Morris; brothers, Danny Avery and Johnny Avery; nephews, Jerry Morris and Brady Avery; niece, Laura Morris. There are not enough words, or time to express how much she impacted our lives and will be greatly missed.
