Karen M Griffith

November 17, 1971 — June 23, 2012

Karen May Griffith, from the Tonkawa/Ponca City area, passed away Saturday, June 23rd, 2012. For forty years Karen shared her life with her family and friends. Memorial services will be held at Central Baptist Church, Hwy 77 and East Coleman Road, Ponca City on Friday, June 29th at 10:00 A.M. Pastor Lynn Schuyler will be officiating. Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater.
Karen was born to Elaine and William (Bill) Griffith of Tonkawa on November 17, 1971. While in school, she was a member of the Tonkawa marching band and the FHA. She graduated in 1990.
Karen obtained a degree from Pioneer Technology Center of Ponca City. She was employed at various jobs before becoming an associate at Wal-Mart in Ponca City. She received her 15-year service pin in 2011.
Some of the joys of Karens life were watching her tree-rats and birds; collecting dolphin figurines, and articles, spending time caring for and traveling with her late companion, her big dog, Max. She was an avid book reader, and loved all forms of music. She was thrilled to go dancing with her friends. Karen didnt know the word stranger. She enjoyed talking to any and everyone.
Karen was an entertaining story and joke teller. She helped her parents with the family farm and cattle. She was a contributor to the Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge.
Karen is survived by her siblings; Wayne Griffith and wife Kathy of Tonkawa, Mary Waye and husband Dickie of Emory, TX, Joan Miller of Ponca City, Janice Eberle and husband Arlis of Ponca City, Paula Griffith of Tonkawa, Sandy Frederick of Tonkawa, and Jessie Griffith of Tonkawa; fourteen nieces and nephews, and twenty-two great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ruth and Roosevelt Mayfield, her parents, and her big sister Betty Griffith, each from Tonkawa, and brother in law Mike Miller.
Her internment will be at the Riverview Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Image Hospice (6116 S. Memorial Drive, Tulsa, OK 74133) or to the Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge (239 Turpentine Creek Lane, Eureka Springs, AR 72632).
