Kenneth Andrew Carter

Kenneth Andrew Carter, 88, of Stillwater, OK, passed away Friday, October 16, 2020 in Stillwater.
A celebration of life will be held Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Dighton-Marler Funeral Home with his nephews, Rodney James and Bryan James, officiating.
 Kenneth Andrew Carter was born in Rover, AR to Starling Andrew Carter and Christina Ruth Allen on July 8, 1932.  He graduated from Chafee High School in southern California, where he met Beverly Smith.  Ken and Beverly were married in Upland California in 1951.
He and Beverly had four sons. Ken attended California Baptist College and Golden Gate Baptist Seminary.  Ken was a music minister for over 30 years where he excelled in leading church choir, he was even a member of the famous Weatherfords gospel quartet. 
He later married the love of his life Lanna Lou Durham Taylor in 1979.  They lived in California for a few years before returning to Stillwater where he and Lanna managed properties until their retirement in 2002.  He served as the director of the Stillwater Community Singers for 20 years. 
He was an active member of Stillwater Bible Church, even singing in a quartet there. Ken was also an amazing woodworker, creating many intricate items like vehicles, furniture, and holiday decorations.  He loved to create and give to those he loved.    
  Ken is preceded in death by his parents, Starling Andrew Carter, Christina Ruth Allen, his first wife Beverly, his late wife Lanna, his brothers Allen, Odell and Nate, his sister Vivian, and his brother-in-law Jerry James and stepson Brad Durham.    
 Ken is survived by his sons, Mike, Rick, Sheldon and David Carter, his stepson D. Scott Durham, his 17 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, sister-in-law, Shirley Ann James, brother-in-law Jim Taylor and wife Connie, Nephews Rodney James and wife Dana, Bryan James and wife Rachel, Michael and wife Samantha and niece Lindsey Taylor and Kristen Baumann and husband Tom.
 Memorials may be given to Stillwater Bible Church 7617 W 6th Ave, Stillwater, OK 74074. 
  The family of Ken Carter wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Physician’s Choice Hospice, Dr Jon Johnson Sr., Brookdale Assisted Living Center, Stillwater Community Singers, and his home church Stillwater Bible.
