Kenneth Neil Brake went to his Heavenly home on Wednesday evening, February 17, 2021 at his family home in Stillwater. Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of Dighton-Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater.
Kenneth was born on October 24, 1935 in Ripley, Oklahoma to Thomas Edward and Minnie Ethlyn (Nugent) Brake. He graduated from Stillwater High School where he met the love of his life and married February 27, 1955 to Vonda Niles of Stillwater.
Ken served his country in the National Guard for 11 years as an Aviation Survival Technician (A.S.T.) and Maintenance Technician for the Stillwater and Oklahoma National Guard Units. He worked at Swan Rubber, Prestolite, and Mercury Marine in maintenance and supervisory roles.
Ken also served his church and community as long as he was able to do so. He was actively involved in the Glencoe Methodist Church, the Timers Car Club, Glencoe School Board, and was a founding member of the Glencoe Lion’s Club. With the help of church members, Ken started and maintained a ministry providing free wheelchairs and accessories to the handicap in need.
Kenneth is survived by his wife Vonda and children, Beverly Kay Bittle (Bill) of Perkins, Pamela Joan Eaker (Jeff), Donna Sue Johnson (Floyd), and Delmar Neil Brake (Mary) of Stillwater; 15 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and 12 great great-grandchildren; two sisters Harriet Harris and Betty Emmons and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Thomas and Minnie Brake; daughter, Diana Richardson; brothers, Thomas Brake, Dale Brake, Doyle Brake, Ralph Brake, and Philip Brake; sisters, Lynda Martin, Kay Hawkins, Vicky Ventris and Carla Langley; and two great-grandchildren, Jessie Dawn Johnson and Savannah Faith Bittle.
Visitation is Monday, February 22, 1:00 to 8:00 pm. With Funeral Services on Wednesday, February 24 at 2:00 pm, at Dighton-Marler Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater with Jeff Kuhn officiating, and burial will follow at Mt Hope Cemetery in Ripley. Those attending services must wear masks and use social distancing following CDC guidelines. Funeral services will be livestreamed on Dighton-Marler Funeral Home Facebook page.
