Kenneth Durell Smith

Kenneth Durell Smith, 79, went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, August 3, 2024. He was born to Durell D. and Lola Alice (McNamer) Smith on March 3, 1945, in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He graduated from C.E. Donart High in 1963 and married his high school sweetheart Sharon Kay Calame on April 10, 1965. They had three children, Cynthia Kay (Cindy), Robert Wayne (Bob) and Kenneth William (Bill). They divorced after 38 years and he married Evelyn Harshman and they later divorced.

He served 8 years in the 45th Infantry, 1st Battalion, 179th Inf. Reg. He was a carpenter by trade and built homes in Stillwater for 20 years. He worked at Mercury Marine and retired from there after 23 years.

He was an ordained minister through the House of Prayer. He loved talking Gods word to anyone that would listen. He loved to sing, play guitar and dobro.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Dolores Starling and grandson Cody Mertes.

He is survived by his 3 children, Cindy, Bob and Bill, 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, 3 sisters, Lola Jean Swanson, Joyce Cook and Martha Settle and brother James Smith. As well as numerous friends, and family and lifelong friend John Cook.
