Kenneth was born May 13, 1921 to Jesse and Stella (Willett) Nelson at their home near rural Cushing, OK.
He played football and graduated from Perkins High School where he met his future bride. He married Georgia Graves on Aug 4, 1941. They began their life together in the Perkins community, except for a short period of time lived all their lives here in Perkins.
Kenneth always worked hard to provide for his wife, 3 daughters, and a son. He worked in construction while running a dairy and farming. He served on the Perkins School Board and was active in Eden Chapel Church for many years, where he and his brother Verlin helped build on a much needed addition. In the 1980’s Kenneth served Payne County as Dist. #3 County Commissioner until his retirement.
Kenneth lost his wife to Alzheimer’s June 13, 1987. After that he put his whole heart into growing and maintaining a huge garden every year that he gladly shared with family and friends. He continued this up until last year.
Although Kenneth had not been active in a church for years he was certainly active in his relationship with Jesus Christ. He recently could be heard having conversations with Jesus and “Thank You Jesus” was always on his lips.
Kenneth was the last one left on this side of heaven of both his and Georgia’s side of the family. His Immediate family that preceded him in death besides his parents and wife were brothers, Verlin and LeRoy; son, Kenneth A. Nelson; granddaughter, Mindy Wolfe Waren; great granddaughter, Anna Lynn Taylor; great grandson Colby Wolfe; sons-in-law, Ted Wolfe and Bill Gaff.
Kenneth is survived by daughters, Marilyn Wolfe, Linda Vassar and husband Wayne, and Merry Gaff; grand children, Trica Gordon, Carla Lester, Misty Sweeney, Amy Jenkins, Charlie Wolfe, TJ Wolfe, Bryan Adcock, Emily White, Amy Taylor, Carrie Winfield, Aliesha Rains, and Eric Nelson. He also had numerous great and great great grand children.
We want to give a special thank you to Corene Thompson for her special care she gave our dad over the last two years. It meant so much to all of us.
