Ladonna Ruth Hodge, 81, passed away in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on Thursday, December 9, 2021. Service’s have been entrusted to the care of Dighton-Marler Funeral Home of Perry.
Ladonna was born July 23, 1940 in Billings, Oklahoma to Cecil Earl and Gladys Leota (Johnson) Grim. She grew up in Red Rock, Oklahoma and graduated from Red Rock High School with the class of 1958. She worked for the State of Oklahoma in the tourism department for 20 years. While working for the State of Oklahoma she made many great friendships along the way that she cherished deeply.
Ladonna was a woman who valued family and time with those she loved above all. She devoted most of her time to strengthening and supporting those she cared about, especially her grandchildren. She loved getting to spoil them and never missed an opportunity to do so. This love for her family carried over into her hobbies. Many knew she loved a good family tree project. Ladonna put to gather numerous books about her family’s genealogy and found a lot of enjoyment in the process of piecing it all together. Even more so, she enjoyed getting to teach the ancestry to her children and grandchildren as the family continued to grow over the years. Some of her other hobbies included thrift shopping, solving true crime documentaries, and playing games such as, dominos, solitaire, and marble game the family knows as “Wahoo”. Ladonna also loved to cook. She was always frying or baking something up in the kitchen and if you went to visit her, you had to eat, no exceptions. She loved fiercely and made a life for herself that exemplified that in every way.
Survivors include her children, Jim Hodge of Edmond, Oklahoma, Cassie Cummings and husband Greg of Stillwater, Oklahoma; brother, Cecil ‘Bud’ Grim and partner Sheryl Mandeville of Perry Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Logan Ferguson, Lacey Gann, Lexi Hodge, Lane Hodge, Callie Burghardt, Caitlin Tomlinson; and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son Vic Hodge; and siblings, Anna Mae Cunningham, Betty Jean Heimbach, Leroy ‘Sonny’ Grim, Wanda Erlene Greer, Vera Bell Roberts, Emma Lou Hasenfratz, Rosa Lee Grim.
Visitation will be Monday, December 13, 2021 from 9 AM to 8PM at Dighton-Marler Funeral Home of Perry. Family will greet guests from 5PM to 7PM. A Celebration of Ladonna’s life will be held on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at 10AM at Grace Hill Cemetery in Perry with her nephew Danny Hasenfratz officiating.
